Owners Corporation Training Academy

Why we built OCTA

OCTA was established to raise the standard of Owners Corporation education in Victoria through practical, independent training that prepares people for the realities of their role.

Everything we do is driven by one goal: leaving the industry stronger than we found it by sharing knowledge, supporting people, and helping shape the next generation of industry leaders.

We’re on a mission.

To develop confident, capable leaders by combining practical industry experience with education that reflects today's legislative requirements and the situations people face every day. Technical knowledge is only part of the job. We also develop communication, leadership, problem-solving, and professional judgement because these are the skills people rely on every day to achieve successful outcomes for their Owners Corporation.

Our vision is simple.

We want to see Owners Corporations that genuinely work for people, where managers, committees, and property professionals understand their responsibilities, collaborate, and contribute to stronger communities and safer buildings.

Meet the team

OCTA was founded by Leanne Martin and Melissa Harvey, who bring decades of combined experience across Owners Corporation management, committee consulting, governance, and education. Their experience complements one another. Leanne brings extensive operational and management expertise, while Melissa brings years of independent committee consulting and education, giving OCTA a balanced perspective that reflects both sides of the Owners Corporation relationship.

What guides every course we deliver?

Training should change what you do, not just what you know.

Understanding the legislation is important, but real success in an Owners Corporation role also depends on judgement, communication, and knowing how to apply that knowledge in everyday situations. Our training combines technical expertise with practical experience, giving participants knowledge they can use long after the sessions end.

People make better decisions when they understand their roles, responsibilities, and the reasons they're making them. That's why our training focuses on practical knowledge people can apply every day, not information they'll forget after the session.

OCTA isn't affiliated with any management company, software provider, industry body, or sponsor. We teach what people genuinely need to know, not what someone else wants us to say.

The legislation provides the framework, but every building, committee, and situation is different. That's why we teach through real examples and practical experience, not just textbook scenarios.

Owners Corporations are about more than buildings and legislation. They're about people. That's why we develop communication, leadership, and professional judgement alongside technical knowledge.

We built OCTA to give something back to the industry that's shaped our careers. Every course is an opportunity to share what we've learned and help raise the standard of Owners Corporation education across Victoria.

Sharing practical knowledge today to strengthen the Owners Corporation industry tomorrow.
